Description

Ursus spelaeus comonly known as Cave Bear lived in Europe during the Pleistocene and became extinct at the end of the last ice age some 10000 years ago. Its habitat is restricted strictly to the forests of the European continent, avoiding the grassy plains and areas of Mediterranean vegetation. A large number of fossils were found inside caves where the specimens hibernated. This cast replica is based on an original found in Romania.
