Description
Aepyornis, also known as elephant bird, was the world's largest bird, reaching 400 Kg in weight and a maximum raised head height of about 3 m. This flightless giant became extinct during the 17th century.The eggs have a length up to 34 cm.
Casting materials
The model, made by fiberglass and mounting artificial eyes, are easy to assemble. Each step in the manufacturing process, from anatomical drawings to the finished 1:1 sculpture, are documented and made under strict supervision of palaeontologists.
